This year has been a busy one for Amovita and our clients alike. At Amovita we have expanded from a team of 4 to a team of 8 Consultants; we have also recorded an explosion in the number of service hours we provide to our clients and have delivered more training presentations than ever before.
This November, Amovita is celebrating our 3rd Anniversary and we are celebrating by recognising those clients that have been with us since this beginning, tonight at the Story Bridge Hotel. I look forward to seeing you all this evening and for those of you that can't join us - we will share wtih you the milestones from this event in our final celebratory festive season e-news next week.
Our 2012 Training program will be on our website shortly and please look out for our exciting Tender writing presentations with Andrew Williams. Please see Andrew's story below. These presentations will provide organisations and businesses with that winning edge in preparing that all important tender. Dates will be available shortly.
Thank you again for your support of Amovita during 2011, we really appreciate partnering with those organisations and businesses we have been working with this year, because of you Amovita continues to grow and be strong in the delivery of high quality services and programs across the country.
We look forward to bringing you our Christmas e-news in early December

Trooper Payne The Art of War - A Very Personal Story
|
|
|
Along with thousands of other people, Trooper Payne is currently serving his country in Afghanstan. He has been there since May this year. He is a son, a father, a husband, a friend, a cousin and just in case you were wondering why Nicola Payne our Senior Communications & Marketing Consultant shares the same surname, yes, he is her brother (that's him there on the left!)
It is a difficult and challenging time for all those serving and the families here supporting our troops. Facebook has become such an important communication tool to keep in touch.
I was excited (and VERY proud) recently when I received an email from a Townsville journalist letting me know that....read more

The 'Assemblance' of Words
|
|
|
We often talk about the power of language, what we say and how we say it. People’s perceptions are very powerful and its important to stop and reflect on the influence or impact we have on others. Very true, very true.
I have a saying in one of our training manuals, that a bunch of letters on their own is just a bunch of letters. A bunch of letters in some assemblance is the power of language. Do we really take the time to think about the assemblance of words we use.
What do we notice our family members saying, our manager, trainer or partner.
I was recently sent the attached You Tube video and it certainly made an impact on me. Video Clip: The Power of Words
What impacted?
Yes you guessed it.....read more

What NOT to do at your Work Christmas Party
|
|
|
As December is literally JUST around the corner, Amovita would like to share some tips with you this year that you might find helpful (and amusing) before you attend this years work Christmas Party.
These tips will ensure you don't end up looking like the people on our left; and so you don't have to email an apology through to your boss the next day!!!!:
- Wear something appropriate: Men – if in doubt try overdressed rather than underdressed; make sure you are comfortable, there is a good chance you will eat, drink and dance a lot. Ladies – Check with the organiser, but smart casual is usually best, also wear comfortable shoes for the dance floor. If you are wearing any christmas style outfit, keep it above board.
- The 3 Rules of Drinking – (1) by all means enjoy a drink or two or two, but remember your own limitations, no one likes being on the receiving end of a colleague who has had one to many; (2) get a taxi, don’t under any circumstances drink and drive, work parties are generally held in accessible locations; and (3) Get a room, sometimes a little bit of alcohol and good food makes your heart throb, if this occurs, just leave the event….you don’t want to start making out in front of your colleagues.
- Social Ineptitude – meet and mingle! Sometimes the work Christmas party is the only time you will be in the same room as all your colleagues at the one time and it could be the only time you’ll meet your colleague’s partners. You can be guaranteed everyone is probably a little uneasy at meeting each other for the first time, so make others feel comfortable and introduce yourself.
- DON’T Complain! The Christmas Party is supposed to be a fun occasion where you can celebrate your achievements from the year. It’s not the time to complain about the venue, the food, the IT department, the HR department, your colleagues or your boss. Definately not the boss!!!
- Finally – HAVE FUN! Christmas parties are just a different forum where staff can build rapport and relationships, so enjoy your event and just between you and I keep an eye out on Facebook over the next few days….just in case….
