Welcome to October!

Can you believe that it's October and that means the festive season is not to far away! What a big year it has been.

I was working in the beautiful Apple Isle during the last month and managed to catch up with one of my old!!! bosses Peter (Sid) Sidebottom MP. Sid has worked tirelessly on a number of policy initiatives over a number of years and it was fantastic to catch up with him and reminisce about our days of working together.

We worked on a number of policy areas including family and domestic violence and was priviledged to be involved in the changes to legislation in Tasmania in this area.

Sid has also been passionate about education curriculum and policy for boys during middle years high school.

I also enjoy engaging students in some of the work that Sid has undertaken in the policy course I lecture in at ACU.

RECENT ROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION

PRESENTATION TASMANIA

I would also like to acknolwedge the wonderful professionals that attended our PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE COURSE both in Hobart and Launceston recently. 

A large group of professionals coming together to discuss best practice in professional and practice supervision was such a fantastic experience and I would like to thank the AASW for sponsoring this event.

I look forward to our program in Tasmania next year and from the overwhelming response to this presentation, we are definately ensuring that Tasmania is in our program from next year.

Thank you to everyone that has contact me by phone and email with your feedback and requests for more presentations. Thank you to everyone for also welcoming me back to Tassie!

2012 TRAINING PROGRAM

Like many organistions at this time of the year, Amovita is in the final stages of planning our services, programs and training presentations for 2012.

Our training and presentation program for 2012 is changing and we are very excited to be bringing on board a new 3 tiered Qantam Leadership Program that includes our Executive and Manager Retreat.

We would also like to hear from you what gaps you think need addressing and we will develop a training presentation to suit your needs. 

Amovita is also in the process of developing all of our training presentations on line so look our for our exciting news around this as we move into 2012.

Training Presentation: The Accidental Counsellor

   

Knowing what to say and do when you are approached by someone in distress can feel overwhelming when you are not equipped with the specialist knowledge and skills to respond efficiently and effectively.

By virtue of your role at work, there will be times when you may be the first point of contact for someone in crisis and needing immediate assistance or for someone just needing a bit of comfort or consoling.

We often fall into the roll of the ‘Accidental Counsellor’ without a professional framework in which to work with our clients, team members and our staff.

Even without a formal qualification in counselling it is important to have a tool kit of counselling techniques and questioning frameworks to provide the necessary support to staff, colleagues and customers/clients.

In 2012 some of our programs will be dropping off with an exciting new Quantum Leadership program coming on board.


We willy be offering the Accidental Counsellor training presentation in house, so ensure if you are keen for Amovita to conduct this presentation for you next year, book us in quickly, we are already booking our diary up to late February 2012.

We do have great news for you though, we will be delivering the Accidental Counsellor training in November in both Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

The Work / Life Balance

   

I used to listen to music all day. I used to dance around my house. I used to really enjoy going to movies and eating popcorn. I used to go and get massages, facials and pedicures. I used to…I used to…I used to…What’s happened to us? Why has work taken over our lives? And how can we reclaim it back?

We are very excited to have our inaugral Amovita Client Awards celebration coming up for 2011. We have just surpassed our 3rd anniversary and what a great 3 years it has been.

Our team has grown dramatically to 7 in the last 12 months and we want to mark this special occasion by recognising those organisations and businesses that have been with us from the start and it is exciting to say there is quite a prestigous list.

Training Presentation: Supervision for High Performance

   

Many professionals work in often stressful, complex and busy work environments. Providing and receiving quality professional supervision is vital to being able to maintain high performance in the work place, reduce sick leave, workers compensation costs and increase productivity.

This presentation provides you with all the necessary tools and skills as well as a fantasticl framework for ensuring you provide high quality supervision as well as ensuring you can ask for what you need from your own supervision.

You will be guided through the PASE model of supervision which will provide you with the necessary framework and techniques to ensure your team feel supported, working within high performance principles and achieving great outcomes.

You will observe a LIVE supervision session using the PASE model and have the opportunity to engage in an observational supervision process in your work environment.
